Soundboard [USA]: Lorenzo Micheli at GFA Oberlin 2005

Very few guitarists could follow the huge Niibori Ensemble and even hope to produce a positive effect, to create a tabula rasa from which to begin the concert. Fortunately, the task fell to Lorenzo Micheli, one of my favorites of the “effortless virtuosi” of the young generation. He was able to erase the Niibori performance and create his own “Lorenzo zone”. It requires not only exceptional guitar playing but also great concentration and focus to take the audience from one place (where the bombastic big ensemble was) to where the solo guitar performance is, and Lorenzo did just that.”
